In Their Hands
Identity is located not in the traditional portrait of the face, but in the intimate choreography of gesture and touch. By shifting the focus to the hands and the objects they cradle, the work examines how individuals maintain a sense of self within the environments they inhabit. These hands act as sites of contact and expression where objects become physical extensions of the self, carrying the subtle traces of identity through posessions.
Drawing on my background exploring how identity is shaped, this project suggests that who we are is often most visible in what we hold onto. In Their Hands seeks to reveal a quieter, more vulnerable form of identity - one that is suggested through the worn but tender relationship between the person and their material world.
